Martial Arts Training - Smooth and practical movement

Have you ever thought about the surface of your training? Are you practicing in the dojo? Is the floor made of wood or cement? Are you practicing barefoot or wearing shoes? Sliding on the floor? Let our training be more practical...

Martial Arts - Are you sliding or rebounding?

In most cases, experienced martial artists slide on their floors. The head does not shake up and down. The head position remains level while moving.

This applies to the forward, backward or to either side.

So, are you practicing on a surface that is easy to learn to slide without bounce, or is your feet slipping and preventing easy movement?

First, try a smooth surface, such as in a dojo or garage that you train.

Occasionally, it makes your training more difficult. Add realism to different surfaces.

Common surface provides military issues

My garage, I train full of...something. Treadmills, beanbag chairs, book boxes, vinyl records, etc. This forced us to move to the next room for training.

Our new "training facilities" are covered with carpets.

And I have never seen my students have encountered such a problem, moving smoothly from wall to carpet. Just as they lose efficiency in one fell swoop. Who would have thought that the carpet would become the comet stone of one or two of my students.

The solution is to go back to the move - practice shooting forward, go backwards, and go straight to the side - all without the head bouncing up and down. All on the carpet.

You should give it a try. It is worth mentioning this practice.

Another challenge for smooth movement

If you want to kick, then the shoes that provide grip are the first choice. Of course, you can use the leather sole to slide forward better, but you can easily slide to your peak.

Therefore, many martial artists prefer shoes with rubber soles. This makes sense.

The problem is that on a smooth floor, they tend to stick. And... the viscosity of the rubber tread causes the head to start swinging again.

You should practice on different surfaces and wear different shoes [barefoot] in regular training. Learn to move like a martial artist. There are several reasons why it will not rebound when moving.

For your effective martial arts exercise!
