Street Fighting Training - Developing Combat Response

A basic principle of self-defense is to use our wisdom to avoid the beginning of a dangerous situation.

Unfortunately, we occasionally encounter situations in which we are forced to take physical defense actions to ensure our own safety.

This is where street fighting training comes into play.

When it comes to defending ourselves in the inevitable violent confrontation, we need to be aware that certain factors may help reverse our interests, such as:

*Aware of the vulnerability of the attacker

* Learn how to take advantage of these weaknesses

* The mentality of existence and the confidence of action

* Hand-eye coordination

*reaction

Reflection plays a vital role in self-defense and street fighting.

You may be a solid puncher, a professional wrestler, or a martial artist trained in thousands of techniques - but if your reaction is not sharp, you may be injured in combat.

Violence in real life is often rapid and unexpected. Attackers often use unorthodox and unpredictable methods in combat.

Therefore, it is in our best interest to hone our response through actual street fighting training.

There are countless exercises that can help us improve our responsiveness. This is my favorite 3:

1. Tool protection drill bit: Let a partner strike you with a random angle training knife and use a block [or other training knife] to meet the attack arm. Start at a slow speed until "real time."

2. Focus on MITT DRILLS: Focus Gloves is a great training tool and an excellent investment. Have your partner/trainer "give you" a variety of targets [jab, straight, hook, uppercut, front kick, round house]. Pay attention to what gestures and telegrams will predict next, and attack it as soon as possible.

3. Persist in combat training: Persistence in combat training [Kali, Arnis, Escrima] is an interesting and effective way to develop responses, hand/eye coordination and awareness of various angles of attack.

When performing self-protection training in street struggles, the ability to execute technology with speed and strength is not enough.

We must train ourselves to identify all angles and possibilities of the attack and be prepared to react within a fraction of a second.

Until your defensive tactics immediately react naturally. Then drill some.

This is the essence of street fighting training.
