If you haven't seen Quentin Tarantino's shameless bastard, then you are a war movie. The director who brought you Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 has started making World War II movies. Due to the events that took place, the film belongs to an alternative historical category. It should be noted that this is not a remake of the Italian film of the same name in 1978, starring Fred Williamson [he looks like a bar quarrel and a Vietnamese veterinarian in Tarantino's dusk until dawn. If you like a good action movie with a very dramatic scene, you will fall in love with this movie, but it can't replace a good history book. Although the Basterds of Lieutenant Aldo Raine are fictitious, they are based on real units operating in the Second World War, and their actions have become legendary.
The film begins to show how evil and methodical the Nazis are, and everyone must remember that this is not fiction. German fascists are nightmarish things. After their homeland took over all aspects of life, they fought across Europe and built an empire. Their ideology based on lies and junk science supports ideas of world domination, genocide, and killing millions of people as they try to build new empire. When the United States officially participated in the war, Europe was bleeding, and a mad dream seemed to come true.
In the film Brad Pitt's Lieutenant Aldo "Apache" Rennes is a good old boy from Tennessee. His mission is to recruit Jewish American soldiers to conduct guerrilla warfare in the Nazi-occupied France. The team ambushed the patrol, a series of bombs, and even the scalp from the German deceased in a campaign aimed at intimidating the Nazi war machine. In the process, they cooperated with local resistance and even recruited German trade to enter their ranks. Their method was cruel, but very effective and even caught Hitler's attention. So where is the end of history and the beginning of the novel?
There are some facts in the novel. For example, Brad Pitt's role is member of the first special forces, and the Devil's Brigade is a joint US Canadian special force that operates in Italy and France. They have received martial arts training, including sword warfare and unconventional warfare, but they have not fought in small operations, despite the many small allied guerrillas. The Strategic Services Office [OSS], which provided commands to Batcherts, did exist and later became the Central Intelligence Agency [CIA]. OSS did train German and Austrian agents against the Nazis, and as many as 24,000 people participated in the secret efforts of the United States in Europe.
Although Inglourious Basterds may be a war movie that transcends time, the truth is that it is not entirely based on fiction. A few brave men and women took the war to Nazi Germany in the worst conditions and shortened the war through their efforts. For some people, this is just a matter of patriotism, or just their responsibility, but for those who have lost so much, it is only for revenge. Many people die in war, and these wars never appear in history books, but through our training and retelling their heroic deeds, we pay tribute to them. So sit back and enjoy the movie, but remember the true heroes of the Second World War.
