Diaper cakes are a great gift for baby showers or welcome homes for welcome homes. Although it looks like an expensive layered cake, diaper cakes are inexpensive to make and can be designed to fit any subject.
You need some items. A large pack of diapers. I prefer to use larger diapers instead of newborns because larger diapers are easier to handle. Cloth diapers can be used to make eco-friendly cakes. A box of rubber bands, several large rubber bands, double-sided tape, a cardboard core with a roll of paper towels, a cardboard cake board, fancy ribbons and items you wish to use for decoration.
Decorating a cake is fun because you can create it as you wish. Choose a few items, such as toys, bottles, brushes, and combs. A diaper cake for a boy with the theme of animals and trucks. The theme of the butterfly and lady bug looks cute on the cake of a little girl. The Winnie the Pooh theme applies to boys and girls. Bathing themes may include several rubber ducks, baby power, shampoo, soap and more. The stuffed animal at the top of the cake is a good touch, but don't choose too big a stuffed toy because it will over-design.
The diaper is first rolled into a cylinder with the top of the diaper in the middle of the roll. Use a rubber band to secure each rolled diaper. The rolled diaper is placed around the empty tissue tube. Use a large rubber band to hold the first layer in place. The second row is arranged around the first row, and the second row is also fixed with a large rubber band. A 12-inch cake board should have three rows of diapers. Create the second and third layers using the same technique.
The length of the ribbon is measured to bypass each layer. Be sure to cut the ribbon longer to make it overlap. Position the ribbon to cover the rubber band. Use a double-sided tape to secure the ribbon so that it is tight enough that it does not slip, but not too tightly enough to stain the diaper. Decorate your diaper cake with the item of your choice. Arrange them at all levels until you are satisfied with their appearance. Then, use a double-sided tape to attach them to the ribbon.
